CHARM AND TECHNO
Ford has completely redesigned its Ford Escape for 2020. New platform, new look, the small compact utility has changed completely. But while the petrol versions are well known, it is the two new versions, hybrid this time, that get the attention. Because 2020 marks the return of the traditional Ford Escape hybrid, and adds to the catalog a plug-in hybrid version offering a range of almost 50 kilometers in 100% electric mode.
NEW 2.5L HYBRID ENGINE
Available on the top of the range Escape Titanium, the improved 2.5-liter Atkinson hybrid engine with continuously variable electronic transmission develops 198 horsepower while reaching a top speed of 135 kilometers per hour for front-wheel drive models .
The Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) has a Level 2 AC charging port. Using a 240 Volt Level 2 charge, the charging time drops to approximately 3.5 hours. Interesting detail, the development of batteries has made it possible to reduce its size. It no longer handicaps the cargo space.
MORE SPACE IN THE CABIN
Despite the lower roofline for 2020, the new Escape offers more cabin space than before. This includes an increase in the shoulders, hips and head in the front and back. The new architecture allows the use of thinner but more resistant parts!
And if the rear space is not enough, be aware that the second row seats are now sliding 15 cm, and can offer even more legroom. This does not deprive the vehicle of cargo space since it can receive 4 golf bags without encroaching on the passenger space.
A NEW INTERIOR
The interior of the Ford Escape Hybrid has been redesigned to offer sophisticated ergonomics and simpler-looking dials. The improved Sync system also maximizes the use of voice commands.
As for safety, the Escape Hybrid is adding the Ford Co-Pilot 360 system this year, a suite of 5 features for better safety on the road. The system includes 17 sensors and essentially helps distract drivers in an overcrowded world. FordPass, connectivity and multimedia are also on the menu.
The new 2020 Ford Escape behaves like no other before him. It is now more economical, but retains its nervousness and driving pleasure.
