Ford is, first and foremost, a pickup truck manufacturer. With the Maverick, the Ranger, the F-150, and the entire Super Duty lineup, you could say there’s something for everyone and every budget from the American automaker. At least, that’s what we thought until rumors of a Ranger Super Duty began circulating online.
I must admit, I was a bit shocked when I first heard the news. Logic suggests that when you need a truck with better payload or towing capabilities, you move up from the Ranger to the F-150. Well, that’s partly true, and let me explain.
For others
You see, for the average North American, it’s fairly straightforward to upgrade from a midsize truck to a full-size one. However, that’s not necessarily the case elsewhere in the world. It’s important to know that the F-150 and the Super Duty series aren’t available in all markets, which is where the idea of a Ranger Super Duty becomes interesting.
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense to offer a variant with enhanced towing capabilities within the Ranger lineup, especially in regions where it’s the largest truck you can buy without venturing into the commercial vehicle segment.
Impressive figures
The Ford Ranger Super Duty will offer a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 kilograms, or 9,920 pounds. Its gross combined weight rating will exceed 8,000 kilograms, or more than 17,636 pounds, making it capable of carrying workers, their equipment, and the machinery they need for just about any job.
We don’t yet know what engine the American automaker will pair with this truck, but it’s reasonable to expect either the same powertrain as the Ranger Raptor or something entirely different. A diesel engine isn’t off the table either.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty will hit the market in 2026. Unfortunately, unless otherwise indicated in the future, all signs suggest that this truck won’t be offered here in North America.
